Online Business Idea – Creating and Publishing Explainer Videos

Here’s a money-making idea if you don’t have one, which I’m sharing as part of my explanation of why video content ranks higher online – it involves making use of online video makers if you’re not already using them purely as part of your online marketing strategy:

If you run an online search for anything, and if the results that come up don’t display a video, that’s your chance to capitalise! But before I get into the meat of how to go about doing this, first I need to explain why video content ranks higher and it does indeed rank higher because that’s the preferred manner in which users would like to consume any information they search for online.

Never mind the cat videos and other such nonsense – I’m talking here about something like a video tutorial or a simple explainer video or even animated explainer videos showing your users how they might go about using your site or getting something done. And that leads us to the meat of the matter – how to implement the online business idea of making money out of creating and publishing explainer videos.

Step 1: Finding a topic

This is perhaps the easiest and the most fun step of them all, well apart from watching the dollars roll in of course. So what you do is simply think about any problem you face in your daily life – it doesn’t have to be a major problem. It can be something as simple as searching for a product or service you need, which implies that it doesn’t have to constitute any situation associated with dire straits in any way.

For example, if I want to fly to Asia, “flying to Asia” is my “problem.” Next, jump on Google and type in the most natural search phrase you’d put into the search bar if you were indeed looking for a solution to your problem.

Step 2: Creating the video content

The next step entails creating video content with the use of online video editing platforms like Renderer, this of course if there is no video showing up in the search results of the search you typed into the search engine.

It’s easy to create videos using this kind of browser/cloud based software and you can create some rather professional-looking explainer videos to solve your “problem” easily in this way. To expand on my problem of searching for flights to Asia, I might be looking for “cheap flights to Asia,” in which case I’d create an explainer video showing people exactly where and how to find cheap flights, such as detailing instructions on how to use a site like BudgetAir.

Step 3: Monetisation

Next, create a YouTube channel if you don’t already have one and upload these problem solving explainer videos you create with the free software mentioned. YouTube allows you to make money with your videos by playing short ads before your videos start and sometimes during the video playback.

Step 4: Marketing

The final step entails the marketing of your videos, but often all you need to do is make sure to target good keywords and let Google do the rest, by ranking your videos above all the other boring text-based content.

It can be quite a lot of fun doing this all day, but remember that it’ll take time for your videos to get ranked and subsequently start making you money passively.
